You have a busted lip. He has black eye. Now he wants to sue you for everything you have. OK, its just going to be his word against yours. But , he has video of the fight. Who knows how he got it. It could be from a security camera or even a phone. The video shows you winning the fight, but not him starting it. Oh, and he also has pictures of his freshly pounded face and a medical report. He wins a judgement. The bailiff makes you turn over your shirt, pants and shoes on the spot. You walk out of court with only your jockey shorts. If you do these three things, you will not be in this situation. • STAND THE RIGHT WAY • SAY THE RIGHT THING • HIDE WHAT YOU HAVE The easiest way to protect yourself from a law suit is to stand the right way. What do I mean by this? I’m talking about your fighting stance. If you’re a Boxer or Martial Artist, open your hands and have your palms facing your opponent. You will still be able to defend yourself and will appear passive to witnesses and on video. “Stop it” or “No” should be what you are yelling. You may be pounding the heck out of your opponent. If you are yelling “stop it” or “no” on video , it will again appear that you are the on the defensive (even if you’re not).
I recommend the last step for body guards, bouncers and high risk security people. Hide your assets. Everything you own needs to be in someone else’s name. Lawyers do asset searches before they file a law suit. If they don’t find any assets they don’t sue.
